Ehren

3 June 2015:  We planned to hike today from Wasserbillig to Ehren (30 km).  However, Mary fell while hiking yesterday (no serious consequences; just some bumps and bruises), so we decided to shorten today's hike.  We took a bus from Wasserbillig to Grevenmacher and hiked from there to Ehren (15 km).  The trail that we omitted cut inland from the river and then back.  Our trail today followed the line of the river, usually along the upper boundary of the vineyards, occasionally in the fringe of forest above the vineyards.  It was a pleasant, easy hike, bringing us to Ehren in the mid-afternoon – early, by our standards.

Just at noon, we came to a perfect place for our picnic lunch (comprising ham & cheese sandwiches made from breakfast, plus a cucumber).

Mary followed the GR5 high road, while Carroll remained on the lower road – both leading to Ahn.

After five weeks on the trail, it was time for a haircut!

We enjoyed a good dinner with a Pinot Gris.
