Angevillers

6 June 2015:  I entered France today!  I departed from Dudelange and hiked about 25 km to Angevillers, a small village in Lorraine.  I crossed the unmarked border some time around midday.  The only indication of the international border along the forest trail was the shift from Luxembourgeois trail markings (we have followed yellow disks, rectangles and triangles) to the standard white & red GR markings.

It was another hot day, but not so hot as yesterday.  Most of the trail was in forest, providing welcome shade.  Best of all, I was welcomed with very warm hospitality by Fabrice, the host of the B&B here.  I was invited to join a barbecue that Fabrice and his friends organized.  Great folks and a wonderful occasion!

The train has priority leaving Dudelange:

The pleasure walking in a forest on a hot, sunny day!

This area was the site of intensive open pit iron ore mining, back in the day...

Carroll was pleased to meet an old acquaintance, a standard white & red GR marker near the French border.

Welcome to the GR5!
