Nyon (2)

25 July 2015:  Today's big event was The Return of the Queen.

After two weeks of R&R in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Mary is ready and keen to hike again.  She traveled by train this afternoon to Nyon.  We were pleased to get together again in this city, because we share good memories of our sojourn here in 1989 – our first rest day after a month of hiking.

After Mary's arrival, we went shopping in a big supermarket near the train station.  That was quite a challenge:  There are so many things that we would like to buy, but we must restrain our appetites, because everything we buy must be carried on our backs!

We enjoyed a walk around town and along the lake.  Before us lay the Alps – so much bigger and more imposing than the mountains behind us.  We bought tickets for our boat ride across the lake tomorrow and concluded the evening with a good dinner at an Italian restaurant.

In 1989, we stayed at the Hôtel de Nyon, beside the lake.  We had hoped to return to that hotel – now called Hôtel Le Rive – but it had no vacancies.  We have been very happy staying this time with Marcela.
