Ouren

27 May 2015:  We enjoyed today's hike from Braunlauf to Ouren (21 km). Restored by last night's dinner and a good sleep, we felt strong as we hiked out of town.  There was a significant amount of walking on paved roads, but there were also long stretches of delightful forest trails.  And when we emerged from the forests, there were grand views of rolling countryside.

We finished the hike at the Rittersprung Hotel, a comfortable place.  This is our last stop in Belgium, so I was pleased to sample another local beer, Mc Chouffe, along with one of my favorites, Orval (I was thirsty!).  The owners of the hotel are friendly, as we seek to communicate in English, French and German.  They helped us find a place to stay tomorrow night – a difficult task, as there are very few hotels or B&Bs along the first 40 km of our trail in Luxembourg.

The old fortress in Burg-Reuland was a good place for our picnic lunch.
