Today, my new friend Jeroen (the host of the Herkingen B&B) drove to Middelharnis and picked up my new glasses at the optician where I had ordered them one week ago. (Jeroen had been in contact with the optician and already made a trip over there to ensure that the glasses were ready and properly prepared.) He then drove with his son to a rendezvous with us in Noorderwijk (halfway along our trail from Grobbendonk to Westerlo) around midday. Upon their arrival at our meeting place, Jeroen's son solemnly handed me the box with my new glasses (both regular glasses and sunglasses – a two-for-one deal such as French opticians offer, but with a much better selection of frames for the "free" pair.) I whooped with joy; we all hugged – and then we went for a fine lunch in an excellent restaurant nearby.
As I've said before, I am very lucky that I lost my glasses on the day that we hiked to Herkingen, where we met Jeroen and his family. I am very grateful for his generous assistance. Dank je wel, Jeroen!!
I like those glasses! You both look healthy and well. Good to see you! And it's good that you can see well again...

We, Tim and I had a wonderful lunch together with you both Mary and Carroll. And we the family are very happy that we see you in the Alps in the summer where we can stay in your house. We are very generous about that. And we welcome you there with good food and wine ;-)
ReplyDeleteWoah, Raybans! You stylish things, you...
ReplyDeleteThanks for looking out for my parents, Jeroen. Dank je wel! :)

Congratulations on getting your new glasses! How are they holding up so far? I hope they’ve been of good help to you. Anyway, it was nice of your friend Jeroen to help you pick your glasses. Perhaps losing your glasses wasn't such a bad thing. You got to replace them with a great pair, and you met Jeroen in the process. Have a great day!
