Between Dalhem and Jupille (ca. 15 km), there was some excellent hiking. We especially enjoyed the broad, dirt trails though forests. We appreciated the shade of the trees on this hot, sunny day. The GR5 itself no longer goes through Liège, passing instead to the east of the city. However, we could not miss Liège, since I lived there for three years (1976-1979). So we we followed a variant, the GR57, which branches off the GR5 northeast of the city and leads (via Jupille) to the center of Liège.
We walked around the center of the city in the late afternoon — memory lane for me. Naturally, we walked past my old apartment building at 7 rue Grétry, and we paused at a café that had some special memories for me. We are staying at a B&B in next to the Cathedral and will explore Liège tomorrow during a rest day.
